Microenvironments

I am captivated by microenvironments in and around river banks, lake shorelines, forest floors, and underbrush. In my recent paintings I strive to communicate the enchantment I have in these spaces through the use of light, an earthy colour palette, and the physicality of the paint. Perhaps the most unique aspect of my paintings is the tight cropping of space and the absence of horizon lines. This exaggerated perspective almost abstracts the composition facilitating an intimate encounter of what is directly under the foot. It is my hope to stimulate intrigue of these spaces connecting the viewer to the life that exists there.

These works are painted on canvas that have been gessoed and gallery wrapped on custom made wood stretchers with an approximate 2 inch profile that has been painted a dark grey. Hanging hardware is included on the back.
