Canadian Wilderness Artist Residency, Yukon Territory

The Canadian Wilderness Artist Residency in Yukon Territory both moved through and operated within the traditional territory of the: Kwanlin Dün, Ta’an Kwäch‘än, Little Salmon/Carmacks, Selkirk, and Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in First Nations. This immersive experience included canoeing the Yukon River between Whitehorse and Dawson City for 17 days with a cohort of 11 other artist, an experience that has deeply impacted my art practice. During our time on the river we experienced reliance and reciprocity with the land and the people that we met. The work shown here was done on location as a direct reaction to the space and experiences.
